Kiteboarding Lessons - Learn to Kitesurf

Over the last few years, advances in kitesurfing equipment have made the sport much safer and more user friendly. However, large sport kites still generate enough power to pull a car down the beach! With that kind of potential power in your hands, it’s easy to see the importance of proper training.

St. Augustine, Jacksonville and other Northeast Florida communities have some of the best beaches and water access in the state to kiteboard. Wide, white sand beaches, beautiful inlets and the St Johns River provide great kiteboarding, kitesurfing, and traction kiting.

Kiteboarding Lessons

We have a team of instructors that are entusiastic, patient and ready to teach you the sport of kiteboarding, kitesurfing or land boarding.  Whether you have some previous kite flying experience or no kite or board skills at all, we can get you up and riding in just a few days.

We offer a kiteboarding lesson experience tailored to your needs.

Learn to kitesurf with a friend! We offer group lessons at reduced rates.

Lessons are broken down into two main stages: Land Lesson and Water Lesson.

Learn weather awareness: Know when and where to go depending upon the weather conditions. Not all days are suitable for kiteboarding but when they are you will know how to find a safe launch area.

Learn the basics of flying a kite in a controlled evironment. We will start you off on a trainer kite to teach you the extreme basics of kite control before you progress to a 4-line inflatable kiteboarding kite.

Learn to rig the kite, launch and land safely, relaunch the kite from the water, basic body dragging, self rescue and what to do in extreme emergency situations.

It's time for the board. Putting all the pieces together can be the most frustrating part. We are here to help you through that phase as quickly as possible.

Supervised Riding: Learn to stay upwind, learn transitions and let us help you solidify those skills to become independent on the water.

The total cost of the basic lesson is currently $400.00. A $50.00 deposit is required to secure a place on the schedule. Deposits are placed with Ocean Extreme Sports in St. Augustine, Fl. at (904) 461-9415. If a student has completed all of the steps, additional time can be purchased by the hour for supervised practice sessions at a rate of $75.00 per hour.
